Teenage Drop-In Centre (TADIC)
Open Wednesday 15:00 – 18:00
28 Lower Northam Road
This unique centre is open for all local teenagers to drop in and have a chat about any problem they have. The service is free, and you don't need to be a patient of the Practice to access it. There is advice available about contraception, sexual health, acne, drugs, period pain and if appropriate, referral can be made to a counsellor. The service is confidential therefore neither parents or the client’s GP will be contacted unless explicit permission is given by the client.
Patients aged 40-74, who have no Chronic Diseases (e.g Diabetes, Heart disease) are eligible for an NHS Health Check. Patients will be invited every 5 years, but if you are the right age you can ask for an appointment.
You will first have a fasting blood test, then a follow up appointment to discuss the result and look at your other risk factors such as BMI, diet, blood pressure, smoking and cholesterol. You will be offered support to make lifestyle changes where you choose to make them, and a follow up with a doctor if anything medically serious is found.
Blood test appointments can be booked early morning (they require a 12 hours fast - nothing to eat or drink except plenty of water). Healthchecks are generally on Wednesday mornings, but we may be able to accommodate requests for other days.
75+ years old?
Every patient who is 75 or over is entitled to a health check with the practice. The aim is to improve the care and support given to the over 75s population. These appointments are available on request with the Practice Nurse.

A number of services use room space at Hedge End Medical Centre. This serves two purposes – it makes the service more accessible to our patients (they would otherwise generally have to travel to the hospital); also, as a training practice, the other services are able to allow our students and our staff to shadow the clinics, giving everyone a better understanding of other services, and enabling better communication.
Services being hosted currently include:
- Community Heart Specialist
- Community Diabetes Service
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Service
- Princess Royal Trust for Carers
