We are encouraging patients to give their views about how the practice is doing. We would like to be able to find out the opinions of as many patients as possible and are asking if people would like to provide their email addresses so we can contact you by email every now and again to ask you a question or two.

Welcome to Hedge End Medical Centre's web site.

Our doctors, nurses and administrative staff are dedicated to offering a high quality and accessible service to the patients of Hedge End Medical Centre.

We are conveniently situated in the centre of Hedge End, within easy walking distance of the shops and next door to the dentist and optician.

For the convenience of patients who find it difficult to attend during working hours, we now offer pre-bookable appointments on alternate Monday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm - 8.00pm and every other Saturday morning from 9.00am - 12.00pm.

Routine Doctor appointments are bookable up to 3 weeks in advance. Routine Nurse appointments are bookable to 5 weeks in advance.

New Patients

If you wish to register as a new patient please print off the Registration Form and New Patient Questionnaire below and bring the completed forms to the surgery together with two forms of identification which include your current address.

Following Registration we will book you an appointment with a Nurse for you to attend a New Patient Medical Check.

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs)

Under the proposed new health bill, The Department of Health plans to scrap Primary Care Trusts and replace them with Clinical Commissioning Groups. Hedge End Medical Centre (HEMC) has become a member of the West Hampshire CCG as part of the Eastleigh Southern Parishes Locality.

HEMC GP Dr. Karl Graham is locality clinical lead for the Eastleigh Southern Parishes Locality.

CCGs will commission NHS services for their patients on a shadow basis from April 2012 and completely take over the commissioning from April 2013.

Five local GPs have been elected as board members for the new West Hampshire CCG:

· Dr Sarah Schofield (Chair) from North Baddesley Surgery

· Dr Nigel Sylvester from Friarsgate Practice, Winchester

· Dr Tim Thurston from New Milton Health Centre

· Dr Simon Goodison from Blackthorn Health Centre

· Dr Jim Rose, from Derrydown Clinic, Andover

These board members will be supported by a team of other clinicians and managers in running the CCG.

Chair of the West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Sarah Schofield commented:

“West Hampshire is a large area covering a population of 536,643 people through 54 GP practices. We want to make use of all of the expertise that are out there to ensure we draw on real knowledge and experience to drive forward improvements to our local health services.
